Einstein and travelling - Einstein e il viaggiare

What is travelling about?

I keep asking myself this question, especially when I start get itchy feet cause I feel the need to leave for a new adventure, and explore...

Well, travelling is about so many things...but one of the most important for me is that when I travel it's easier for me to touch, feel and experience the fact that we are ONE with everything else, other people, nature, animals...

My boyfriend yesterday sent me this quote that I think summarizes beautifully this idea...it is from that enlightened human being who was Albert Einstein:

"A human being is part of a whole, called by us "universe", a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separeted from the rest...a kind of optical delusions of his consciousness.

This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us.

Our task must be to free ourselves for this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."

Qual 'e' il significato del viaggiare per me?
Continuo a farmi questa domanda, soprattutto quando comincio a non vedere l'ora di partire per la prossima avventura...

Beh, viaggiare significa cosí tante cose...ma una delle piú importanti per me é che quando viaggio riesco piú facilmente a toccare, sentire, fare esperienza del fatto che noi siamo UNO, un'unitá con gli altri essere umani, la natura, gli animali...

Il mio ragazzo ieri mi ha spedito una frase che penso riassuma meravigliosamente questa idea...le parole sono di quell'essere illuminato che é stato Albert Einstein:

"Un essere umano é parte di un tutto, da noi chiamato "universo", una parte limitata nel tempo e nello spazio. Fa esperienza di se stesso, dei suoi pensieri e delle sue emozioni come qualcosa di separato da tutto il resto...una sorta di illusione ottica della coscienza.

Questa illusione é una specie di prigione per noi, che ci limita facendoci rimanere attaccati ai nostri desideri personali e all'affetto per il limitato gruppetto di persone che ci sono care.

Il nostro compito deve essere quello di liberarci da questa prigione allargando il nostro orizzonte di com-passione in modo che esso abbracci tutte le creature viventi e l'interitá della natura nella sua bellezza."
